The Mets completed the Billy Wagner trade on Wednesday by acquiring Triple-A outfielder Chris Carter and Single-A first baseman Eddie Lora from the Red Sox. The Mets thought they would be getting Carter in September, but the Yankees claimed him on waivers to force Boston to pull him back until after the season. The Mets showed how much they value Carter by immediately adding him to their 40-man roster, which now stands at 38 overall. Carter, 26, is a power prospect who hit .294 with 16 homers in 116 games for Pawtucket this season. He batted .333 (6-for-18) with three RBIs in nine major-league appearances with Boston in 2008.
